YOU JUST BOUGHT YOUR VAN — NOW WHAT?

DIY van converters… this blog is for you!

So, you just bought your van and now you’re staring at a large, empty vehicle. Exciting, right? But also… overwhelming. Where do you even start? Don’t worry — we’ve got you covered.

Whether you’re building a van for full-time living, weekend adventures, or road trips, the foundation of your build is sound deadening + insulation. Starting here ensures a quieter, more comfortable ride, and it will save you headaches later.

Step 1: Start With Sound Deadening + Insulation

The first thing you should do after stripping your van down to its metal frame is install sound deadening and insulation.

Why these two items are critical:

  • Sound deadening: Eliminates rattles and vibration noises from your van’s metal frame. Driving without it can make your ride feel loud and uncomfortable.
  • Insulation: Keeps your van warm in winter and cool in summer. Proper insulation also prevents moisture buildup and condensation.

Pro tip: Install these before adding paneling, cabinetry, or upholstery. If you wait, you’ll need to remove everything later — a time-consuming and costly headache.

We’ve created three starter kits based around sound deadening + insulation, each with its own level of upgrades and features. The video below gives a clear demonstration of why these kits are a must-have for any build!
